Claremont is located 10 minutes' drive south west of Perth's centre. Claremont covers an area of 4.9 square kilometres and is nestled around Freshwater Bay on the Swan River, in the midst of beautiful parks with an abundance of mature trees. It is an attractive and sought after residential suburb, noted for its village atmosphere, shopping and entertainment precinct, educational establishments and facilities such as golf, swimming and yachting.

The area developed mainly due to increased traffic when Fremantle Traffic Bridge was opened. Later the railway line from Perth to Fremantle was built through the area. Cafes, restaurants and pubs offer quality dining, from cafe style to full restaurant service, with a variety of international speciality eateries. Resorts, hotels and bed and breakfasts provide accommodation for visitors to Claremont.

According to a recent (2008) 'Quality of Life Index', Claremont enjoys the 5th highest lifestyle of any suburb in Western Australia, and the 39th best in Australia.

All this and more makes Claremont one of the most sought after residential areas within the Perth metro, nestled as it is in the heart of the western suburbs' 'Golden Triangle'.
